Detailed Biography of Nancy Golden
|
|
With a background in stage acting and some television experience, Nancy Golden was a natural choice when Home & Garden Television went looking for a host/expert for programs such as Room for Change and Decorating Cents. The transition to DIY's design series was a natural next step in the evolutionary process.
At the age of 8, Nancy Golden was insistent about the correct shade of lavender for her bedroom walls. In the second grade, she rejected a plastic purse given to her as a gift, claiming that she could tell by the smell that it wasn't real leather. Much later, an acquaintance who didn't want to pay the high cost of a professional decorator hired Golden to help beautify and furnish a cabin. That's all it took: a career born and a passion uncovered. Golden went back to school to study design and turned her interest into a profession. In 1985 Golden helped found the Minnesota chapter of the Independent Designers Association, and she continues to share her career-choice advice with high school students considering a future in design.
