Biography of Michelle Kim

Twenty-seven-year-old Michelle Kim is one of the most dynamic and accomplished women of her generation. Upon graduating from the University of British Columbia, she moved to London, England to work as a journalist for the BBC. There she worked on a variety of programmes including BBC World Service's flagship magazine programme and the books programme, The Word. Kim has also worked for The Korea Herald in Seoul, Korea, where her mother's side of the family lives. In 2008, her first novel for middle readers will be released by Groundwood books; It's the story of two mixed-race families living across the street from each other and follows the intense friendship between the young girls in both families. Kim also teaches journalism at Simon Fraser University in Vancouver and works in the city as a professional actor.

Michelle Kim's expertise is in literacy and education; empowering young people and women; cultural trends, particularly at the intersecting point where culture and diversity meets globalization and economics. Kim has also written extensively about youth culture (western and eastern) and on what diversity tactics companies use to appeal to a wider market base.
