Biography of Marc Salem

Born In Philadelphia, the son of a rabbi and pharmacist, Salem's interest in the mind and its workings goes back to childhood experiences. From influencing apparent random choices of friends and family to anticipating events before they occurred, Salem set out to discover and uncover the mysteries of the mind.

As an academic, he holds advanced degrees from the University of Pennsylvania and NYU. His work with Ray Birdwhistle, the founder of kinesics (or body language) has been seminal to his practice. He has been on faculty of several major universities, consulted to influential law firms and law enforcement agencies, continuing to understand how the mind creates reality and meaning.

As a researcher Professor Salem has traveled the globe exploring the mind and its potential. He was a director of research at CHILDREN'S TELEVISION WORKSHOP studying the development and nature of the mental process.

As an entertainer, Marc has performed his program around the world, astounding and entertaining millions.His show MIND GAMES concluded two extended runs Off-Broadway to both critical and popular acclaim. He has just completed a year-long world tour performing to sell-out audiences.

Salem has been featured on the Rosie O’Donnell Show, Montel Williams, Maury, CNN, among dozens of others. His first one-man network TV special, “Marc Salem's Mysterious Mind” aired this past year.

"Mind Games And All that Jazz" brings a new slant to mind reading by highlighting material that is musically oriented; that music in particular being jazz. Incorporating elements of Salem's previous successful show, "Mind Games," this new production features Vibrations, a three piece, all women, world class Jazz trio.

Vibrations provide interstitial music to open and close the show as well as interacting with mastermind Salem. Salem indicates that the goal here is to synthesize a new style of entertainment. Salem's Mind Games are like jazz in that they are both intellectual pursuits, entertainment and non-verbal.

The jazz idiom has traditionally featured improvisation and the exploration of new tonalities, pitch, silences, harmonies and rhythmic Interplay; musicians and ensemble "taking chances" with the material. In this same spirit, Marc will, "walk the tightrope" every night. The Inclusion of a live combo introduces not just another dimension of entertainment but another level of risk and spontaneity.
