Detailed Biography of Ken Dychtwald
|
|
Over the past 25 years, Ken Dychtwald has emerged as America’s foremost visionary and leading authority on the business and marketing implications of the aging of the population. He is a psychologist, gerontologist and author of nine books on health and aging issues, including his best-seller, “Age Wave.” His new book, “Age Power: How the 21st Century Will be Ruled by the New Old,” was published in September 1999 by Tarcher/Putnam.
He has written more than 200 articles in professional journals and consumer magazines and has been the feature subject in many prestigious publications including: “The New York Times,” “The Wall Street Journal,” “The Financial Times,” “Inc.,” “Fortune,” “Time,” “Newsweek,” “Business Week,” “USA Today,” “Advertising Age,” “Healthcare Forum” and “Modern Healthcare.”
Dr. Dychtwald has lectured and presented seminars to more than one million people worldwide, and appears frequently on national television and radio programs. He is a fellow of the World Economic Forum, and has appeared as a featured speaker at the 1998 and 1999 forums in Davos, Switzerland.
In the first decade of his career, Dr. Dychtwald became known as the nation’s leading proponent of “healthy aging” within the not-for-profit aging network. Then in 1986, he founded Age Wave as a consulting firm to guide Fortune 500 companies in marketing to the 50-plus consumer. As President and CEO, he applied insights learned from gerontology to the business development, marketing, advertising and employment policies for some of the nation’s leading corporations, including Johnson & Johnson, General Motors, Coca-Cola, RJR Nabisco, American Express, Prudential, Warner Lambert, K-Mart and AT&T.
In 1994, the company evolved into a business development incubator, creating ventures in the marketing, publishing, retail, nutraceutical foods, and long-term care insurance industries. Age Wave currently has four fully-launched businesses, with another start-up scheduled to launch in mid-1999.
Dr. Dychtwald has been honored with the prestigious American Society on Aging Award for outstanding national leadership in the field of aging. In 1998, ASA named Age Wave, LLC as the Small Business of the Year.
