Biography of Katrina Szish

She is currently the National Correspondent for IN STYLE magazine as well as the creator of “Style Spy,”  a daily blog on INSTYLE.COM.   She was previously a contributing correspondent and host for ABC NEWS NOW, ABC’s digital cable and broadband network, and a news anchor for ABC NEWS on MTV-U, MTV’s college television network.  She also penned a regular column called “The Szish Dish,” on ABCNEWS.COM.  Szish also served as the spokesperson for US WEEKLY magazine from 2004 through 2007 – a custom-created role that made her the voice and face of the magazine for all media platforms.

Szish is a red carpet regular at the Oscars, the Golden Globes, the MTV Video Music Awards, the Grammys and the American Music Awards; she is frequently called upon by E!’s Fashion Police and various international media outlets to voice her opinions on fashion and style.   She was also a correspondent for E!’s “THE DAILY 10” primetime entertainment show.  Szish’s expertise also extends to the worlds of food and travel:  she co-hosted an hour-long destination spa special for THE FOOD NETWORK.

Szish grew up in Wyomissing, Pennsylvania, and graduated from Wyomissing High School.  Szish attended Harvard College, where she pioneered the college television station, wrote for The Harvard Crimson and completed several broadcast internships, including an intensive program with CNN’S POLITICAL INVESTIGATION UNIT in Washington, D.C.  Throughout college and high school, Szish worked as an international fashion model, with agencies in New York and Tokyo.  She spent several months living in Tokyo, where she was featured in campaigns for L’oreal and Shiseido.  Upon receiving a cum laude degree in English and American Literature from Harvard in 1996, Szish moved to New York City and joined “CNN STYLE WITH ELSA KLENSCH” as an intern and writer.  She then segued into publishing and held senior editorial positions at VOGUE and GQ magazines, where she penned monthly trend columns.  Szish has also contributed to STYLE.COM, GLAM.COM, MARIE CLAIRE, HARPER’S BAZAAR, GOTHAM, DEPARTURES, SEVENTEEN, TEEN VOGUE and YM.  She has been one of US WEEKLY’S regular “Fashion Police” scribes.  She also served as a writer, reporter and producer for VOGUE’s syndicated fashion television show, “Trend Watch.”

Szish is a recognized and highly regarded industry expert on fashion, lifestyle, pop-culture and entertainment.  She has been lauded for bringing a witty and intelligent, yet real voice to the genre.  Whether she’s interviewing celebrities (Renee Zellweger, Pierce Brosnan, Denzel Washington), designers (Diane von Furstenberg, Michael Kors, Oscar de la Renta), athletes or policy makers, Szish transcends cultural and social boundaries and gets to the heart of the topics, as well as to the people behind them.
