Karen Pittman is co-founder and executive director of the Forum for Youth Investment. A creator of organizations and initiatives that promote youth development, she worked at the Urban Institute and the Children’s Defense Fund before becoming a vice president at the Academy for Educational Development, where she founded and directed the Center for Youth Development and Policy Research. She also served as director of President Clinton’s Crime Prevention Council, worked with General Colin Powell as a chief architect of America’s Promise, and was a member of the executive team at the International Youth Foundation.
