Detailed Biography of Jon Dore
|
|
Whether painting his fingernails along-side a hopeful competitor or encouraging another through a set of rigorous breathing exercises, Dore presents the lighter side of the Canadian Idol experience.
"Jon Dore is the perfect compliment to the cast of Canadian Idol," said Canadian Idol Executive Producer John Brunton. "He has great chemistry with Ben and is a cheerleader for the competitors. He provides light-hearted relief for the competitors and judges in what can often be a very emotional and intense experience."
A Yuk Yuk's regular, Dore is a familiar face in comedy clubs across the country and was featured in Elvira Kurt Adventures in Comedy on The Comedy Network. Last fall, Dore had a memorable stint as guest host on Canada AM. Most recently Dore appeared as a strip club MC in Zoë Busiek: Wild Card (Global) and is currently parodying heavy metal bands in his comedy duo Death Ensemble. Dore also writes a weekly column for Toronto's Metro newspaper and is working on a novel entitled An Endomorph's Guide to Hallucinogenic Steroids.
Dore previously hosted Daytime, a daily televised talk show in Ottawa, from 1999 to 2002. He is currently shooting a pilot for a TV series on The Comedy Network. Dore is a graduate of Algonquin College's Television Broadcasting Program.
