Kruk was a key component of the Phillies World Series run in 1993 when he hit .316 with 14 HR, 85 RBI, 100 Runs and 111 walks. Kruk was an All-Star from 1991-93 and started in the 1993 All-Star Game at Camden Yards. In his three All-Star seasons he hit .311 (491-1580). Kruk finished his career with an even .300 average, .400 on-base percentage and 100 home runs. He is the Phillies all-time leader in on-base percentage (.400) ahead of Richie Ashburn (.394). Known as a bit of a character during his playing days Kruk went out in style on July 30, 1995 as a member of the Chicago White Sox at Camden Yards. Kruk bounced a first-inning single up the middle and promptly gave way to a pinch-runner. The ball was rolled to the White Sox dugout as Kruk returned to the clubhouse. He got dressed, left the ballpark, drove home to West Virginia and called it a career. Since retirement, Kruk had a role in the movie "The Fan" with Robert DeNiro and Wesley Snipes, and written a book, "'I Ain't an Athlete, Lady...' : My Well-Rounded Life and Times."
