A one-time carpenter's assistant and the son of a civil engineer, Jim Parks is the host of HGTV's home-improvement show, "New Spaces."  The show spotlights homes that begin as eyesores -- and end up as eye-popping examples of what a good remodel can do to improve the lives of the people who live in them.  In the nearly seven-year run of this remodeling show, Jim has documented the dramatic transformations of old, outdated rooms into fabulous, efficient, and up-to-the-minute new living spaces.

 "I've seen what homeowners go through as their personal space is first disrupted and then re-formed into something new," Parks says.  "We've documented a lot of triumphs (and one or two tragedies) but most often we get to see the creation of space that is warm and welcoming.  We start with the homeowner's dream, add the architect's vision and finish by witnessing the builder's craftsmanship."

Jim criss-crosses the country presenting his seminar "Update My Kitchen!" and "HomeOwner Quiz-O-Rama," an exciting new gameshow for home & garden show-goers.

He lives in a 100-year-old home in Evanston Illinois with his wife, Linda.
