Jesse Palmer Biography

Jesse Palmer, born 5 October 1978 in Toronto, Ontario, is a Canadian quarterback and former reality television star. When he was a quarterback for the New York Giants, Palmer was the first professional athlete to appear on The Bachelor.

Palmer played college football at the University of Florida where he alternated playing time with quarterback Doug Johnson.

Although he started a few games due to injuries to former Giants starting quarterback Kerry Collins, Palmer spent his entire NFL career as a backup. In the spring of 2004, Palmer appeared on The Bachelor television program, in which he was given his choice of eligible single women, eventually selecting Jessica Bowlin. However, as is common with relationships forged through reality television shows, Palmer's and Bowlin's courtship lasted for only a few months after the end of the show.

Palmer was cut on September 3, 2005 by the Giants and it appears unlikely that his career will continue in the NFL. His CFL rights are held by the Montreal Alouettes and he will most likely back up Anthony Calvillo in the 2006 football season. However, the Ottawa Renegades are trying to aquire the Ottawa native to be their top quarterback, and Palmer has expressed interest in playing for his home town. Palmers agent has reportedly asked for a three year contract in the neighbourhood of $660,000 per year, which would make Jesse the highest paid player in the league. Palmer is currently working out with the Houston Texans practice squad, and the Seattle Seahawks have stated their interest.
