Detailed Biography of Jane Verity
|
Jane Verity is well regarded and acknowledged both in Australia and internationally as a highly sought after speaker on dementia. She has built her reputation and expertise through 27 years working both directly with people who have dementia as an occupational and family therapist, and 13 years heading Dementia Care Australia (as founder and director); both training and presenting to facilities and organisational staff, and in private consultation. She holds the highest accreditation (CSP) of the National Speakers Association and speaks regularly at international conferences. Originally from Denmark, she has been appointed Eden Alternative mentor for the entire Scandinavian community. Jane is also a master practitioner in Neuro Linguistic Programming (NLP) and is one of few people in this field who applies this communication process to all aspects of dementia. She developed the acclaimed Spark of Life Club Program designed to improve the well-being of people who have dementia, which now runs on 5 continents.
Jane has authored multiple publications, including the Spark of Life newsletter, and her articles appear in dementia journals both nationally and internationally. Her first Danish title, Demens - Lær at genantænde Livsgnisten (Dementia - Learn to rekindle the Spark of Life) was published by Forlaget Munksgaard Danmark A/S in 2005. Her co-authored book The Art of Dementia Care is due for U.S. publication late in 2007.
In recent years, Jane travelled the path of dementia with her own adored mother and gained a deeper understanding and intimate knowledge into the heart and motivations of the person with dementia that only personal experience can give.
