James Lunday got his start studying graphic design at the Sydney Institute of Technology for three years. Soon after, he decided to follow in his grandfather and great-grandfather's footsteps and began a four-year apprenticeship in carpentry and joinery.  Soon his hilarious personality and incredible carpentry skills got him noticed by the folks at Changing Rooms, a hit TV show in Australia. After moving to the United States, he worked as the lead carpenter on TLC's In a Fix. James currently hosts Rip and Renew on HGTV and is a carpenter on HGTV Showdown.  He has his own business, Lunday Construction, where he does everything from renovations to total rebuilds.
