Don Wainwright is a leading national expert in the field of quality leadership. Wainwright served as a mechanical engineer for Westvaco Corporation and as a professor of mechanical engineering at West Point Military Academy before joining his family run business, Don Wainwright Industries in 1969. He began as plant manager and was promoted in 1973 to Vice President/Director. In 1976 he became Chairman/CEO, the position he holds today.
During Don's tenure, Wainwright Industries implemented Total Quality Management and many unique personnel programs, including an all salaried work force with a regularly at/or above 99% attendance record, profit sharing programs, and improvements in the manufacturing efficiency of the plant. Wainwright Industries has received numerous awards for outstanding product quality and total customer satisfaction, including the General Motors Mark of Excellence, the Ford Motor Company Q1 Preferred, and the McDonnell Douglas Preferred Quality Award.
In 1993 the company won the first Missouri Quality Award, patterned after the Malcolm Baldrige Award and in 1994 won the Malcolm Baldrige National Quality Award. These surveys have verified the performance of "Team Wainwright" as an outstanding source for precision components and assembled systems for the automotive and aerospace industries.
