Detailed Biography of David Spade
|
|
David Spade, one of Saturday Night Live's all time favorite cast members, will hit prime time television again this Fall with the return of the NBC hit sitcom Just Shoot Me. David co-stars with George Segal and Laura San Giacomo as "Dennis Finch", the bitter and sarcastic office manager who incessantly attempts to date every model that passes through the doors of the Blush Magazine office. Of David's performance last season, People Magazine said, "Spade...can deliver an insult with grace and precision."
On February 20th, David hits the silver screen in the Miramax feature, Senseless, co-starring Marlon Wayans. he recently finished the upcoming Disney animated feature entitled Kingdom of the Sun to be released Summer '99 which David plays the voice of the lead character, Manco, as well as the animated feature Rugrats for Paramount. This Winter, David begins production on his feature film Lost & Found, the first of his two picture deal with LIVE Entertainment, of which he also wrote the screenplay for.
David and the late Chris Farley will be remembered as one of the best comedy teams. They discovered their comedic chemistry when they worked together on Saturday Night Live, and soon this popular duo segued into films. The first of which was the box office hit Tommy Boy followed by the sequel Blacksheep. David's other motion picture credits include 8 Heads in a Duffel Bag, Reality Bites, Coneheads, Light Sleeper and P.C.U.
Audiences fondly remember David for some of Saturday Night Live's most memorable moments, especially on his own segment, Spade in America. There we saw everything from David getting "tattooed" by Sean Pean, to trading quips with Teri Hatcher.
Some of David's unforgettable characters include: Weekend Update's Hollywood Minute reporter, the unflappable receptionist-from-hell, one of the vacuous Gap Girls, and the rude flight attendant who couldn't wait to tell his passengers "Ba-Bye." Other recurring characters include his uncanny impersonations of actor Michael J. Fox, cult-hero Dennis Leary, comedian Jeff Foxworthy and singer Tom Petty.
Spade has been performing stand-up comedy in theaters and colleges across the country for more than eight years. In 1990, David made his television debut on Saturday Night Live and was soon named the Hot Stand-Up Comedian of the Year by Rolling Stone magazine. David has also guest-starred on HBO's critically acclaimed The Larry Sanders Show, and was featured on HBO's 13th Annual Young Comedians' Special.
David Spade was born in Birmingham, Michigan and raised in Scottsdale, Arizona. He currently splits his time between residents in Los Angeles and Scottsdale.
