Daniella Kallmeyer was born in Johannesburg, South Africa and moved to America with her parents as a small baby.  She grew up in the Washington DC area and spent most summers in New York, however her heritage remains an influential and inspiring part of her life.  At age 17 Daniella produced a 21-look collection, and collaborated with theater friends to present it to an audience of 200 members of the community, launching her private-client business.

Daniella began her studies at Syracuse University concentrating in Fashion Design and then took on a second major in Costume design to satisfy her love for theater. During her time there she participated in several fashion shows and competitions, and costumed several student directed performances.  In the summer she participated in the New York City Fringe Festival costuming multiple performances.  However, after only three semesters at Syracuse, was accepted directly into the second year at The London College of Fashion where she received her BA honors.  Her graduate collection was selected along with only 25 other students by a panel of industry professionals, including the Dean of the University and celebrity designer Giles Deacon, to be part of an exclusive press show at the Royal Academy in London. Garments from her collection were selected by designer Henry Holland and the buyers and creative directors of ASOS.com to be sold in an exclusive limited edition live sale.  Press from the Royal Academy show included a mention in VOGUE.com as “one to watch,” WGSN trend forecasting and style analysis noted for “her mature and sophisticated collection,” interviews publications such as BBC, London Paper, Wired4Style, and several editorial shoots including Random Magazine and Roy Hayward’s style book.

Daniella began interning in New York as a teenager at Luca Luca, and became dedicated to the industry later working closely with the designers at Proenza Schouler, and Sari Gueron.  After starting school in London, Daniella worked as an assistant to emerging designer Les Chiffoniers and as an intern for the incomparable Alexander McQueen, was selected to join the new team building the McQ brand.

After graduating and returning from London, Daniella was convinced to audition for Bravo TV as a participant on the first season of “The Fashion Show.” Her determination as a young designer, knowledge of the industry, and bold design integrity gained the respected judges recognition and Daniella was awarded “Judges Choice” at the finale by famed designer Isaac Mizrahi, IMG’s Fern Malis, and Harpers Bazaar’s Glenda Bailey. All served as her mentors and advocates in the months to follow as she continued to build her career and reputation.  After working for designers like Alice + Olivia and Jen Kao, in the Fall of 2010 she launched her first commercial capsule collection, which received several mentions in fashion publications including InStyle.  Daniella Kallmeyer can now be found in specialty boutiques throughout New York.

The Daniella Kallmeyer brand was founded on Daniella’s interest and intrigue with classic, immaculate, effortless, and often androgynous clothes. As a designer, Daniella identifies strongly with her cultural, theatrical, and artist backgrounds and she incorporates that individuality into her customer experience.  The result: transformative designs, tailor made for strong, creative, and unique woman in mind at a contemporary pricepoint. Crafted in America, Daniella Kallmeyer is focused on modernity, longevity, immaculate fit, affordable luxury, and emphasis on twisted wardrobe essentials. When Daniella came out with her unique line of accessories, intended to compliment the garments, they immediately stood out and continue to gain attention from loyal customers and the industry.

In addition to the art of design, Daniella is also committed to the support of other young entrepreneurs, and the integration of design and technology.  For Spring 2012, she presented a 360 degree projection-mapping video installation of the collection for which she collaborated with multiple young artists and technicians.  The company’s vision is to continue to grow into a full lifestyle brand through the values and freshness of its identity.  Whether it be a dark romanticism or streamline androgyny, balance and sophistication remain a constant in the stand-out quality of the Daniella Kallmeyer brand.
