Biography of Charles O. Holliday

Holliday joined DuPont as an engineer at Old Hickory, Tennessee in 1970. He held various manufacturing assignments for several years, and then he held positions of increasing responsibility including corporate plans manager, global business director, and director of marketing.

In 1990, Holliday became vice president and then president of DuPont Asia Pacific, based in Tokyo, Japan. He was appointed senior vice president of DuPont in 1992, and then executive vice president and member of the Office of Chief Executive, and chairman-Asia Pacific in 1995. Holliday was elected director and then president of DuPont in 1997, before becoming chairman and chief executive officer.

Holliday currently chairs the board of directors of Catalyst and the U.S. Council on Competitiveness. He is also past chairman of the World Business Council for Sustainable Development, the Business Council and the Society of Chemical Industry – American Section. Additionally, Holliday is a founding member of the International Business Council.

Holliday graduated from the University of Tennessee in 1970 with a bachelor's degree in industrial engineering. He received honorary doctorates from Polytechnic University, Brooklyn, New York in 2005 and from Washington College, Chestertown, Maryland in 1998.
