Detailed Biography of Carson Daly
|
|
Ten years ago, Carson Daly was an intern at a KCMJ-FM in Palm Spring, California. He quickly rose the ranks of radio and, in the summer of 1996, landed one of the most coveted positions in the business - that of the early evening voice of Los Angeles' influential and top-rated KROQ-FM. MTV soon recognized his talent and brought him to New York City.
It was at MTV that Daly became the entertainment icon that he is today. As host and executive producer of MTV's "Total Request Live," (TRL) he transformed an afternoon music video program into a must-stop on the publicity circuit for musicians, movie stars and entertainers alike. His popularity exploded in the era of "tweens" - the age of 'N Sync, Britney and Eminem - and TRL soon became "the epicenter of pop culture." Daly became, as TV Guide said, "the Pied Piper of Generation Y."
Daly has now left TRL on a daily basis, and is focused on a career that spans a multitude of media including network television, radio and the recording industry. His loyal fans have followed him to his late night television show and daily radio program, and, in the process, he has picked up many more along the way. Carson Daly has emerged as a survivor of the pop culture explosion -- whose talent and credibility with fans has allowed him to emerge into a major player in the entertainment industry.
His nationally syndicated radio program "Carson Daly Most Requested," broadcast by Premiere Radio Networks, reaches millions of listeners each day.
In 2002, Daly joined NBC's powerful late night line-up with his show, "Last Call with Carson Daly" as part of an overall deal with the network. Now in its 5th season, the show is celebrating consistently high ratings and an ever-growing audience of all ages. Diverse guests ranging from Justin Timberlake and Michelle Branch to George Stephanopolous and Bill O'Reilly, have enabled him to retain his traditionally younger audience while also tapping into a more mature audience of fans.
In addition to his late night program, Daly has hosted a number of primetime specials for the network, including NBC's 4th of July Spectacular and the Radio Music Awards. In addition to hosting responsibilities, Daly and his production company Carson Daly Productions (CDP) were tapped to produce NBC's first ever New Year's Eve primetime special "NBC's New Year's Eve with Carson Daly" which aired on December 31st, 2004 live from Rockefeller Plaza. The show included musical performances by Avril Lavigne, Maroon 5, Duran Duran and guest appearances by Adam Sandler, Conan O'Brien and more.
In addition to hosting the aforementioned programs, Daly is the co-founder of the independent record label 456 Entertainment. The record label has six acts signed as well as management responsibilities for two additional groups. 456 Entertainment enables him to develop promising talent from across the world, in genres ranging from rock to hip-hop.
