In 2001, as a manager in his inaugural year, Bob led the Arizona Diamondbacks to a World Series Championship. Currently Bob is a successful television broadcast analyst for the Chicago Cubs and The Fox Network.
Bob Brenly has been successful at every level. The corporate world relates to successful athletics because the attributes they have parallel so many aspects of corporate success…discipline, integrity, achieving goals, and designing strategies to achieve these goals. As a speaker, Bob draws from his accomplishments in athletics and broadcast and relates these experiences to the corporate world in an entertaining manner.
Highlights in Bob Brenly’s career include:
-Being named the second manager in Arizona Diamondbacks franchise history on October 30, 2000. Bob lead Arizona to the World Series in their fourth year of operation (2001), a Major League record.
-Becoming the fourth manager in the history of Major League Baseball to win the World Series in his first year of managing.
-Serving as the Diamondback’s manager from 2001 through 2004. Won the National League title in 2001. Won National League Division titles in 2001 and 2002. Became baseball’s second manager to win consecutive Division titles in his first two seasons.
-Finishing with a 303-363 record (.536 winning percentage).
-Managing the National League in the 2002 All-Star game in Milwaukee. Called on of the most exciting midsummer classics ever played.
-Beginning his broadcast career with WGN Radio in Chicago in 1990 working with Thom Brennaman and Harry Caray.
-Joining FOX Network in 1996 to become one of network television’s lead announcers working the network’s marquee “game of the week” as well as the All-Star game, LCS and the World Series. Teamed with Tim McCarver and Joe Buck to do post season games.
-Joining Thom Brennaman in 1998 to broadcast Arizona Diamondback baseball for their first three seasons.
-Continuing to do nationally televised games for FOX Network in 2005.
As a player and coach Bob Brenly spent twelve years in the San Francisco Giants organization making his Major League debut in August 1981. Bob was named to the 1984 All-Star team and led the 1987 Giants to the National League West Division Title. Bob signed a free agent contract with the Toronto Blue Jays in 1989 and played with the Blue Jays through July. He then rejoined the San Francisco organization in August and finished his playing career in September as a Giant. He retired as a player after the 1989 season. Bob joined Roger Craig’s staff in 1992 as bullpen coach for the San Francisco Giants and stayed with the Giants through the 1995 season as a coach on manger Dusty Baker’s staff.
