Biography of Andrea Evans

Emmy Award-nominated Andrea Evans portrays Tina Lord Roberts on ABC-TV’s “One Life To Live.”  A true icon of the genre, she has starred on four different soap operas on three different networks.  Her exceptional characterizations, coupled with her unique beauty, have left a lasting impression on fans and the industry alike.

Born and raised in Downers Grove, Illinois, Andrea’s professional life began at age ten with a modeling career in Chicago.  Her entry into acting started with a job as an extra in Brian De Palma’s “The Fury,” which ultimately became a featured role.  She was still living in Chicago when she was cast in the television mini-series, “The Awakening Land,” and her performance garnered the attention of ABC casting executives which led to her original casting for “One Life To Live.”

When Evans first played the role of the devious Tina Clayton (as she was known then), she was dubbed by People Magazine as “daytime’s Diva of Dirt.”  She stayed on “One Life To Live” for four years and then in March 1983, joined the cast of “The Young And The Restless” in the role of Patty Williams Abbott.  Two years later, ABC asked Evans to rejoin the cast of “One Life To Live” and recreate her original role, which she did for five more years.  In the late 1990’s, she portrayed Tawny on CBS’ “The Bold and the Beautiful” before going on to a long run as Rebecca on NBC’s “Passions.”  In addition to her Emmy nomination, Andrea has received numerous nominations for soap opera awards over the years. 

Additionally, Evans had a recurring guest star role on ABC Television’s “Capitol News” portraying a business tycoon’s mistress who authors a kiss-and-tell book.  She then segued to the film, “Opposite Sex,” starring Kevin Pollack and Courteney Cox and a major supporting role in Paramount Pictures’ “Low Down Dirty Shame” as a sexy soap star who is the object of Keenan Ivory Wayans’ fantasy.  Evans also appeared in the independent thriller “Ice Cream Man” with Sandahl Bergman,        Olivia Hussey and Jan Michael Vincent, and the award-winning short film, “Ghostwriter” for “Free Willy” co-writer Brian Strasmann.  

Evans’ theatre credits include “Love Letters,” “A Midsummer’s Night Dream,” “One Flew Over The Cuckoo’s Nest,” “The Middle of the Night” and “What The Butler Saw.”  She also starred in the world premier of “Candles,” an original play dealing with the lives of five women who find the “can” in cancer.  The performances benefited the Huntington Memorial Hospital Cancer Center in California.  Another legitimate theater outing for Andrea occurred in 2002 when she made her professional return to Chicago to star in Eve Ensler’s “The Vagina Monologues” at the Apollo Theater.

In 2003, Andrea broke into a new medium when she starred on two episodes of “The Twilight Zone” radio series.  Those shows were later released to retail stores on CDs.

Andrea’s charitable interests include The City of Hope, for which she has served as their Celebrity Ambassador for their Walks for Hope Against Breast Cancer for the past eight years, and a number of animal rights organizations.

Andrea was also a regular columnist for Healthy Cooking magazine where she offered some of her own vegetarian recipes.

On the personal side, Andrea enjoys spending time with her husband Steve and their daughter, Kylie Lyn, who was born on Mother’s Day, May 9, 2004.  Her hobbies include cooking, gardening, working out and she is an ardent baseball fan.  Andrea was born on June 18.  She is 5’ 5” with strawberry blonde hair and vivid blue eyes.
