Biography of Alex Pattakos

 As the founder and managing director of the Center for Personal Meaning, based in Santa Fe, New Mexico, USA, he is passionate about helping people realize their highest potential and find deeper, authentic meaning in their work and everyday lives.

He is a leading authority on applying the philosophy and therapeutic approach of the world-renown psychiatrist, Dr. Viktor Frankl (author of the classic bestseller, Man's Search for Meaning) to work and the workplace, and was encouraged personally by Dr. Frankl to write his new book, Prisoners of Our Thoughts: Viktor Frankl's Principles at Work. Prisoners of Our Thoughts includes an Introduction/Foreword by Dr. Stephen R. Covey, bestselling author of The 7 Habits of Highly Effective People.

Prisoners of Our Thoughts is the latest in a long line of publications, including contributions to the books Managing in Organizations That Learn and Rediscovering the Soul of Business, and co-authoring the books Intuition at Work: Pathways to Unlimited Possibilities and From Nation to States.

Alex's work has also appeared in many other publications, such as: Canadian Government Executive, Executive Excellence, HR Innovator, Investor's Business Daily, Journal for Quality and Participation, Journal of Healthcare Management, Personal Excellence, Personnel Journal, Public Administration Review, Senior Executive, Success, and Training magazines. Prior to founding the Center for Personal Meaning, Alex taught at several universities in the USA, served as a graduate program head, and directed two applied research institutes.

He was among the initial faculty to serve as evaluators for the "Innovations in American Government Awards Program" at the John F. Kennedy School of Government, Harvard University, served as a faculty member at The Brookings Institution, and was also an adjunct professor of Innovation Management at the University of Toronto. He is currently adjunct professor of Innovation Management in the Executive Education Program at The Pennsylvania State University.
