Detailed Biography of Alex Hyde-White
|
|
When Civil War epic Gods and Generals, as Union Commander Ambrose Burnside, and Dreamworks' Catch Me If You Can directed by Steven Spielberg, with whom he worked for in Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade as Young Henry Jones. In the independent romantic comedy Pursuit of Happiness , currently on DVD, he served double duty as co-star and producer. It marks his first film production. Fans of the popular Disney hit film Pretty Woman will remember him as David Morse, the polo playing industrialist grandson of Ralph Bellamy. The films Alex has starred in include the popular British import Biggles, Fantastic Four , Alien Within, Silent Victim, Mars and Intrepid. He is currently shooting See Arnold Run for A&E Networks.
Among his other fun roles, he played the captain of the Merrimack in TNT'S Civil-War cable-film Ironclads, an Olympic runner in NBC's The First Olympics and the rogue European, Charles Cahill, in Days of Our Lives.
On TV he was in West Wing, First Monday, Ally Mc Beal, V.I.P. and Profiler.
Raised in Palm Springs, CA, he started playing golf at age 13 for the high school and, at age 16, attended Georgetown University before returning to California in 1978 to start an acting career at Universal Studios as one of the last �contract players.� He worked with father Wilfrid Hyde-White on �Buck Rogers� and Battlestar: Galactica.
Alex has been very successful, using his golf game, raising over $200,000 for various charities. In June 1998, he won the inaugural Michael Jordan Celebrity Charity Skins game in Greenville , N.C. with a dramatic birdie at 18 worth $140,000. Half of the total winnings went to Jordan 's charity, The Ronald McDonald House and Alex donated his share of the winnings to Jordan 's charity ($35,000) and the Barbara Sinatra Children's Center ($50,000). He returned to successfully defend in 1999 and again played in 2000.
Alex is a member of the Celebrity Player's Tour, where he had top-ten finishes in 1999 at the Denver stop, hosted by John Elway, and 2002 at the Tom Dreesen Grand Geneva Classic.
