Biography of Alecia Davis

You may recognize this all-American beauty as the former host of XYZ at the Movies on ABC Family. You may also remember Alecia interviewing celebrities at numerous red carpet events or reporting the entertainment news on E! News Live. Growing up in Nashville, Alecia developed an affinity for the country music scene and got her start hosting on Country Music Television’s popular show Hit Trip.

The show enabled Alecia to take adventurous journeys with celebrities as well as conduct formal interviews. Some of her escapades included riding motorcycles with Toby Keith, “touring” with Faith Hill, “hanging 10” with Sara Evans and exploring the Florida Keys with Kenny Chesney. Alecia was in her element co-hosting ACM’s Red Carpet Live Special and she participated as a presenter for The American Country Music Awards on CBS. She’s also hosted a variety of other specials for CMT. Aside from hosting events in Country Music, she has also been featured in several commercials and music videos for artists such as Vince Gill, Toby Keith, The Mavericks, and yes, that’s Alecia on the cover of their ‘Music For All Occasions’ album.

A passion for children facilitates Alecia’s civic-mindedness. She is an active supporter of First Steps, an organization that helps children with special needs. Alecia holds her work with children near to her heart, as she has 15 nieces and nephews, two of which are adopted from Korea. Alecia has also hosted the Junior Olympics for PBS and continues to work with children and support corresponding organizations.

Not only is Alecia adventurous, she’s also quite the sportsperson. Utilizing her athletic skills, Alecia joined forces with the Titans football team to participate in the annual celebrity softball tournament benefiting City of Hope.  She has also supported friend Steve McNair in his foundation by golfing in his annual golf tournament. The youngest of five children herself, Alecia was once considered a tomboy of sorts by her four older brothers! Her enthusiasm for sports lead to a desire for a career in professional Volleyball, but Alecia’s life course changed dramatically when she entered and won a national modeling competition. Soon thereafter Alecia, at the age of 15, was booking jobs in Italy and traveling abroad modeling for international magazines and in fashion shows for top designers.

Alecia took a break from modeling to pursue University studies in Broadcast Journalism, but her modeling opportunities continued and eventually lead her into hosting for television. "I never intended to become a model/actress or host but I'm so blessed and grateful to have those opportunities. I've interviewed some incredible people, a few who've become dear friends, traveled to amazing places and experienced a journey that I otherwise would have never known."

Alecia currently splits her time between Nashville and the west coast. She enjoys cooking, traveling (just about any beach will do), hiking in the park with her miniature Dachshund “Rudy”, going to the movies and listening to music in her spare time. While some of her favorite recording artists include Lyle Lovett, Allison Kraus and The Wreckers, Alecia has an appreciation for all types of music. Among her favorite popular artists are Norah Jones, Lifehouse and Pete Yorn.

Although no stranger to the world of celebrities, and a true romantic, Alecia has landed on the radio co-hosting ‘Give and Take’ with relationship expert Joe Beam, on 1510 WLAC every Sunday night, where together they help people navigate through the give and take of relationships.  “Our goal is to help people have the best relationships they can whether they are married or dating. We know how much work it takes, but when you have the right tools, it makes all the difference in the world. God can do amazing things no matter where you are, we hope to be but an instrument to help people reach their potential.”

As if that weren’t enough, Alecia is discovering the journalist side of herself writing for Country Weekly magazine, where she is a contributing editor covering the entertainment field. Her cover story, ‘The Urban Mystique’ about country music superstar Keith Urban was a newsstand bestseller.
