Detailed Biography of Aaron Karo

His friends got a kick out of it, so Karo started emailing out his thoughts on a regular basis. Soon, via forwarding and word-of-mouth, the column spread and Karo began signing up subscribers who wished to receive his emails directly. In April 2001, after writing every month for four years, Karo sent out his final issue. He had amassed over 11,000 subscribers around the world.

Following graduation, Karo moved from his hometown on Long Island to Manhattan and began working at a top Wall Street investment bank. He also signed a book deal with Simon & Schuster to publish a collection of his emails and began writing an all-new email column about life after college entitled "Ruminations." In July 2002, he made his stand-up debut, an event so anticipated the New York Post devoted to it a full-page article. In August 2002, "Ruminations on College Life" was published and immediately attracted nationwide media attention. Considered an instant classic about the college experience, the book is already in its ninth printing.

Upon publication of the book, Karo left Wall Street to focus on stand-up and writing full-time. Bolstered by a growing cult following, he was soon headlining sold-out shows at colleges and comedy clubs across the country. In 2004, Karo made his television debut as a commentator on VH1's popular "I Love the 90s" series. He also signed a deal with Twentieth Century Fox to create a sitcom about the lives of twentysomethings in New York City.

In May 2005, Simon & Schuster published Karo's second book, "Ruminations on Twentysomething Life." Like its predecessor, the book immediately became a Top 100 Amazon bestseller. Later in the year, Karo appeared on NBC's "I Want to Be a Hilton" and VH1's "I Love the 80s 3-D."

Karo currently lives in Los Angeles where he writes for television and performs regularly at the Hollywood Improv. In October 2006, he released his first stand-up DVD, entitled "Recovering Frat Boy." He continues to email "Ruminations" every two weeks and maintains an archive at his innovative web site, www.AaronKaro.com. The column, which began with twenty friends, now reaches over 50,000 subscribers around the world. From the page to the stage, Aaron Karo's insights into the mind of the twentysomething male have secured his place as the irreverent voice of a generation.
