Susan Winter Ward's Key Accomplishments Include . . . Susan began practicing yoga in 1990 at White Lotus Foundation in Santa Barbara, CA. She was led to yoga seeking relief from 10 years of back pain and was so impressed with the results that within 2 years she became a teacher so she could share the blessings of yoga. Teaching mostly seniors and beginners, Susan has developed a gentle and encouraging teaching style based on the vinyasa style White Lotus Flow Series and is now certifying with John Friend's heart-centered Anusara Yoga. Anusara Yoga's principles of alignment and the concept of honoring the body's innate intelligence are an integral foundation for Susan's teaching.
Susan's most recent yoga training video, "Accessible Yoga for Every Body," utilizes her usual gentle approach, but gives students a chance to extend their practice in to somewhat more challenging poses than her beginning video, "Yoga for the Young at Heart." Susan leads her unique yoga classes and workshops at retreats and conferences worldwide, among them, Inner Voyage cruises and events, Innate Intelligence (Network Chiropractic) Transformational Gate Intensives in Sicily, Lago di Como, Italy and throughout the US, NICABM (National Institute for the Clinical Application of Behavioral Medicine), SouthWest Yoga Conference, Whole Life and other expos. She also serves on the teaching staff and Board of Directors of the American Yoga College and was on the teaching faculty of Deepak Chopra's website, MyPotential.com. Susan has appeared on the cover of Yoga Journal and other national publications. She has authored numerous articles, and has been featured in and written articles for a variety of national magazines and newspapers, and has been interviewed often on radio talk shows.
