Until Wednesday, she was an assistant news editor for The Wall Street Journal in New York. Next month, she is to become a staff writer for Fortune magazine in New York. The bride is also a board member of the Asian Professional Extension, a nonprofit organization that provides mentoring and tutoring to Asian-American teenagers. She graduated from Northwestern University, where she also received a master's degree in journalism. Her parents, Nieva N. Mehta and Ramesh K. Mehta, live in Chicago. Her father is a senior program manager there in I.B.M.'s real estate services unit. Until this month, Mr. Boland, 35, worked as a high-yield bond analyst at Prudential Securities in New York. He is now a senior analyst at Smith Management, a New York investment firm. The bridegroom graduated cum laude from the University of Washington, received an M.B.A. degree from Columbia University and is a former lieutenant in the Navy. He served on the fast-attack submarine San Juan. He is a son of Dr. Paulette G. Scott and Dr. Stephen H. Scott of Spokane, Wash. His parents teach at Eastern Washington University in Cheney. His mother is a professor of English and chairwoman of the English department, and his father is a professor of philosophy.
