Michelle C. Berry, MPS, CISD, has been senior strategist and owner of Courtney Consulting since 1992. Her career highlights include delivering over 1,500 solid, information-packed and empowering presentations to some of our globe's top industries including Fortune 500 companies, The Gannett Foundation, The Pew Charitable Trusts, PBS, The United Way of America and other leading organizations. Michelle is cited in Madison's Who's Who in Business and Who's Who in America. She is also a member of the National Speakers Association. A former TV news reporter whose beats included Capitol Hill and The White House, Michelle is also a business columnist, City Councilwoman, former Alternate Acting Mayor of Ithaca, and on the adjunct faculty at Cornell University, where she obtained her graduate degree in Communication Strategy and Planning. An author, certified Karuna Reiki ® Master Teacher, and certified stress trainer and negotiator, Michelle is also a member of the Society for Professional Journalists and Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. She has won an Alumni Award for Excellence in Career and Service from Harpur College (Binghamton University) and an Excellence in Career Achievement Award from the National Association of University Women. Michelle has also been named "Best Local Legislator," by the Ithaca Times. Michelle has been a keynote speaker and panelist at many national educational conferences, before organizations including the U.S. Department of Agriculture (Michigan), The World Perspectives Institute, The National Science Foundation, and the Association for Education in Journalism and Mass Communications (AEJMC). She has appeared on live television and radio shows for ABC, CBS, NBC, and PBS affiliates and is featured in print publications including The Boston Globe, Newsday, USA Today, and various Gannett newspapers. Michelle currently holds a lecturing position at Cornell University and is an actor, playwright, and performance artist. She is proud to have opened for literary giants Maya Angelou and Howard Zinn. Michelle is the first African American and second Poet Laureate of Tompkins County. |
