Printable Biography of Mark Tibergien

Mark Tibergien is a Principal in Moss Adams LLP. He is partner in charge of the Business Consulting Group, chairman of the Securities and Insurance Niche (SIN), chairman of the Business Valuation Niche for the firm, and a past member of the firm’s Executive Committee. Mr. Tibergien has been working with public and private companies on matters related to business management, succession planning and strategy formulation since 1973. He is the author of Practice Made Perfect, to be published by Bloomberg Press in March 2005 and is in the process of writing three other books on related topics for Bloomberg as well.

Mr. Tibergien has a particular expertise in consulting on management issues within the financial services industry, having consulted with hundreds of broker-dealers, financial advisors, investment managers, insurance companies and other financial services organizations in the U.S., Australia and Canada. He was president of Management Advisory Services, Inc. prior to its merger with Moss Adams in January 1994. Previously, Mr. Tibergien was a vice president, director of Willamette Management Associates, Inc., an investment management and business valuation firm headquartered in Portland, Oregon, and a writer for Investment Dealers’ Digest, in Chicago. He received his education from Bay de Noc College and the University of Wisconsin, Stevens Point.

Mr. Tibergien has been a director of numerous businesses and organizations and served as President of the Western Washington Chapter, International Association for Financial Planning (IAFP); Chairman of the Northwest Regional Council of IAFP; and an elected member of the IAFP National Executive (now the Financial Planning Association) committee. He has served in a number of Seattle community service roles, including Treasurer and Vice President – Membership of the Rotary Club of Seattle, one of the largest Rotary Clubs in the world.

As a nationally known advisor, speaker and workshop leader within the Securities and Insurance Industry, Mr. Tibergien delivers between 50 and 60 presentations to industry conferences each year on topics related to strategy, industry trends, practice management and mergers and acquisitions. He was recognized in 1996 as the “outstanding instructor of the year” by the Washington Society of CPAs. For the past six years, Accounting Today has recognized Mr. Tibergien among the “100 Most Influential” in the Accounting Profession. In 2003, Financial Planning magazine and Financial Planning.com recognized him as a “Mover & Shaker” in their annual review of industry professionals, and for the past two years, Investment Advisor has recognized him among the “25 Most Influential” in the financial services industry.

Mr. Tibergien is a nationally known speaker and workshop leader for business owners, bankers, financial advisors, and CPAs on strategy formulation, business management, business valuation, and succession planning.
