Printable Biography of Layne Flack

I met Layne Flack at the Bellagio tournament in March 2003. We played two satellites together and he was the life of the table, at least for me. I happened to be seated next to him and the way he talked made me laugh. Some of the things he said (which I won't divulge) were arrogant and I loved that.

Since then, I have seen him on two World Poker Tour programs and that same personality shined through (although not as much as the first time I met him). His style of play on the programs was fast and furious. He once stated that he plays without fear and it shows. Layne's best quality as a player in my opinion is his ability to mix it up. It is difficult to put him on any kind of hand. No matter what the hand, he plays it well. Layne is nearly unbeatable when he is at the top of his game. The disappointing thing about him is that he is not always at the top of his game. Another player once told me that Layne would be the perfect teacher for a person who wanted to learn the game of No Limit Hold'em. This person said that Layne knows exactly the right thing to do in almost any situation, but Layne doesn't always apply what he knows.

I remember watching Layne on television during the 2003 Championship Poker at the Plaza event and he was amazing. If I took the above mentioned player's advice and had Layne teach me No Limit Holdem, I would make him divulge how he is able to read players so well. During the Plaza event, there was one hand he was not involved in and he called out both players hole cards before the cards were turned up on the river. He was correct on both accounts.

Layne Flack was born in South Dakota and grew up in Montana. He used to be a poker dealer until he decided to take the tournament world on. He usually attends the major events and can often be found at the final table. He has numerous World Series of Poker bracelets including the 2003 $2500 Omaha HiLo and $1,500 Hold'em Shootout. In 2002 he earned the nickname "Back to Back Flack" when he won the $2000 No Limit Hold'em and $1,500 No Limit. He also won the 1999 $3000 Pot Limit Holdem event.

Some of Layne's other recent accomplishments include firsts in Omaha HiLo at the 2003 Four Queens Classic and Bellagio Five Diamond Classic, first at the World Poker Tour Invitational held at the Commerce Casino, second at the World Poker Finals at Foxwoods Casino, and second at UltimateBet Aruba.
