James Cathcart has been a consultant for Franklin Covey Company since 1994. He has done extensive work with corporate, education, government, and military organizations all across the United States and Canada. Some of his clientele include AT&T, Oracle, Sun Microsystems, various school districts, The United States Air Force and The United States Navy.

Early in his career, James served as a language instructor (Afrikaans) and high-school teacher. He also spent seven years as a security supervisor for the Utah Transit Authority, a government-funded institution designed to meet the transportation needs of Northern Utah. James's expertise in The 7 Habits of Highly Effective People, quick sense of humor, and dynamic personality has made him one of the most sought after consultants at Franklin Covey. An explorer by nature, he spends much of his time hiking and cycling in the hills and mountains of Portland, Oregon. “Nothing has had a greater impact on my life than the life and teachings of Jesus Christ.
