Printable Biography of Gordon Elliott

Gordon Elliott was born in Liverpool, England but grew up in Sydney, Australia. He attended Sydney University where he thought he was destined to be a lawyer until a paper he wrote on the function of media in society changed his destiny.

The paper included interviews with local talk radio celebrities and their influence over the news agenda. One of those celebrities invited Elliott on his program for an on air interview. By the time the interview was over his media career had begun.

The station manager offered Elliott a job on the spot. He soon went on the host his own successful late night radio talk show. He was 20 years old.

Within three years he was approached by Australian television to anchor a national morning news broadcast, Good Morning Australia. The show achieved number one ratings in its first season and held them throughout Elliott’s six-year stint.

Turning 30 gave Elliott itchy feet and a desire to join some old reporter buddies who then lived in New York. He arrived in America just in time to assist his old workmates create the Fox tabloid phenomena A Current Affair.

Between stints on the road for "ACA" Elliott and the same group of buddies began an experiment in local news called Good Day New York. These twin successes and his signature style quickly brought him to the attention of the CBS. They offered him his own syndicated talk show and for four years he hosted a fun but intelligent approach to daytime viewing.

Since then Elliott has built Follow Productions, his own production company, creating series and specials for cable networks like TVFN, Fine Living and House and Garden Television. He currently has six successful series on air: Follow That Food, Paula Deen's Home Cooking, Simply Wine with Andrea Immer, Semi-Homemade Cooking with Sandra Lee, The Genuine Article and The Best for Less.

He is also the national spokesperson for The Campbell’s Soup Company.  Elliott lives in upstate New York with his wife and three sons.
