Franzella Guido is a Nicaraguan born designer, project manager and construction administrator for residential and commercial projects. Popular for her work on the nationally televised home improvement shows “My First Place” on Home and Garden Television and “In A Fix” on The Learning Channel (TLC). Franzella Guido was born in Managua, Nicaragua to parents of Spanish and Italian descent. She started drawing at age five and set her sights on a career in architecture at a young age. Her training began when she was accepted to Design and Architecture Senior High School in Miami, Florida where she prepared her portfolio. After high school she attended the prestigious Pratt Institute in Brooklyn, NY where she obtained her Bachelors in Architecture in 1998. During school she worked at Pratt Planning and Architectural Collaborate, a non-profit organization dedicated to urban re-development. Franzella Guido moved back to Miami, Florida to work at one of the top leading design firms, Zyscovich Inc., from 1998-2001. Guido worked on multi-use and high-rise projects such as “The Grand Flamingo” and school prototypes for Miami Dade and Broward Counties. In 2001 she transitioned to another top leading firm in South Florida, Wolfberg Alvarez and Partners, an architectural and engineering firm. There she worked hand in hand with engineers on all aspects of construction projects. As Project Architect she was responsible for the daily construction administration of multiple commercial and residential projects such as the “Lucent Technologies Headquarters” Miramar, Florida, the “Boca Grand” Boca Raton, Florida, and “Aqua” Miami Beach, Florida. She then expanded her architecture career in 2003 by making her television debut as designer on the hit show “In A Fix” for Discovery Communications. She was then hand picked by Home and Garden Television to represent South Florida in a new nationally televised design show called “My First Place”, where she takes first time home buyers through the process of transforming their new house into a home. She established her own design studio, Franzella Guido Designs, in 2003 and lectures on design topics around the country.
