Playing through injury and illness, Green's dedication, determination and consistency have proven him to be one of the hardest working players in the NBA. His "never give up" attitude was demonstrated in a nationally televised game against New York. When going for a rebound, J.R. Reid threw a vicious elbow and knocked his teeth out. Instead of retaliating, and without missing a beat, Green simply picked up his teeth and continued to play with his teeth in hand until time-out was called.
A.C. Green has won three NBA Championship rings (1987, 1988, 2000), and has appeared in five NBA Finals (all with the Lakers). In February of 1996, Green scored his 10,000th career point making him one of 10 active players to reach 10,000 points and 7,000 rebounds. In addition to his athletic ability, A.C. Green has shown tremendous commitment to the community. His heart is dedicated to working with youth, which led him to start the A.C. Green Youth Foundation to help young people build self-esteem, character, and to teach moral and ethical principles in order to help them make responsible decisions. |
